Deliverance ’98

At Who’s 7 ’96, Diane Gies asked me if I would like to do Servalan at a convention she was doing in 1998. My friend Peter was doing some computer stuff for her and was also going to put the convention live on the web.

The convention was to be held just outside Birmingham. I immediately thought "time for a new frock!" so organised another dress, this time the red one from ’Gambit’, made by a very good friend of mine, Helen Barnes.

The convention was very busy with lots of guests and people. I was to do 4 numbers, one for the fancy dress, two for the cabaret, and one at the closing ceremony.

When I walked out on to the floor, people were clapping, shouting and wolf whistling. I went straight into my first number, Shirley Bassey’s ’Hey Big Spender’. The audience loved it and the judges were in fits. At the end Gareth was laughing so much he was crying!

I then did Madonna’s ’Hanky Panky’ followed by Gloria Gaynor’s ’I will survive’ which everyone clapped along to. And lastly, I did CeCe Peniston's 'Finally' at the closing ceremony.
