At Redemption I bumped into Sue Wadsworth-Ladkin. We got chatting and it turned out she and her husband John were holding their own convention, Eclectic 21.
The guests were to be Gareth Thomas, Jacqueline Pearce, Ed Bishop, Frank Maher, Storm Constantine, Steve Englehart, Michael Billington, Sylvia Anderson, and Andrew Sewell. Then they asked if I would go as a guest as well!
Unfortunately Sylvia Anderson couldn't make it so she sent some fantastic models and puppets from the Anderson shows.
My main tasks for the weekend were to entertain everyone and to interview Jacqueline on stage in front of everyone; as you can imagine I was on Cloud Nine - I was going to interview Servalan!
All of the guests were really wonderful, and my partner really hit off with Frank Maher.
In a deja-vu like episode, I was asked to collect Jacqueline to show her to an event, so I knocked on her door and again she answered the door in her nightwear! She invited me in, got back in bed, patted the bottom of the bed for me to sit, and we just chatted while she did herself a roll-up.
The interview between Jacqueline and I was on Saturday. It went down so well that Sue & John asked me if I would chair the Blake's 7 panel on Sunday afternoon with Jacqueline, Gareth and Frank.
I really think in all honesty that Eclectic was the most memorable convention for me, as the interview with Jacqueline really was a dream come true. A gentleman in the audience was videoing it and has sent me a copy. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him, and thanks to my "fairy godmother" Sue Wadsworth-Ladkin for making it all happen.
