Whilst at Deliverance, Judith Proctor spoke to me about attending Redemption '99. Right from the off she explained that it was a fan based convention, so there wouldn't be loads of guests.
Gareth was meant to be there, but had to cancel at the last minute, so Brian Croucher replaced him. The other guests were Sheelagh Wells and Joe Nazzaro, Jane Kilick and myself.
The convention was being held in Ashford at a very nice hotel, I had been there previously for Who's 7 '96. My neighbour made me a new dress, the one from 'Weapon' and her husband made the collar.
Iian Coleman, who I dragged out of the audience at Deliverance during my cabaret, was such a good dancer we did a routine together in the cabaret on Saturday night.
Again, there was a 'Rulers Of The Universe' contest, and I was asked if I would take part, which I did.
I hosted the pub quiz on Friday night, but annoyed a few people because I couldn't pronounce the names from Babylon 5 properly. I did warn them I'd never watched it!
On the Saturday morning I did a panel with Brian which was absolutely packed with people, about the relationship between Servalan and Travis. I then did my own panel in the main hall about my life as the Alternative Servalan. In the evening I did my Cabaret.
And of course I spent the entire weekend going around trying to get people to vote for me! The campaigning must have paid off, because on Sunday at the closing ceremony they announced me as the new 'Ruler of the Universe!'
