This is probably my favourite dress, bar the one at the end of 'Pressure Point' where Servalan does the all time fastest costume change - what was that all about? You can just hear the conversation...
Jenna: "Ok, Servalan you're coming with me."
Servalan: "Not dressed like this I'm not we clash, hang on while I change, there's a love."
Anyway, again Debbie next door made the dress from watching the video. We had a hell of time finding the pearls, I had been to John Lewis but they on had very small pearls. I had friends looking all over the place, one of whom rang to say she was in John Lewis and it looked like they had what I wanted. So I went there thinking they were going to be the ones I had already seen, but thankfully was proved wrong! They were the right ones, so as I had written down in my wallet the length I needed, I paid for them and went straight to my neighbour.
A week later Debbie knocks on my door to say that she had run out of the pearls and needed more! I could have screamed because they were so hard to get hold of, so I rushed down to John Lewis only to find all the shelves were empty, as they were moving stock around. I spoke to an assistant who said all the stock had been moved into the stockroom, but there was no way of knowing what was in each box. I told her I needed some desperately to finish a fancy dress costume and this was the only place in Portsmouth that stocked that size of pearl, so she said she would have a quick look but couldn't promise anything.
About 5 minutes later she returned with half a spindle, so I bought the lot to make sure Debbie didn't run out again.
It was a firm favourite with everyone and someone suggested to me that I should have had 2 made, the other all torn and tattered. I could have worn fake chains, with foam bricks hanging from them!
